½ cup unsalted butter softened

½ cup brown sugar

¼ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup sour cream or plain yogurt

¼ cup milk


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  • In a saucepan, melt 3 tbsp of unsalted butter over medium heat and stir in ½ cup brown sugar until combined, then pour into the prepared cake pan.
  • Arrange the sliced apples over the caramel mixture in the pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In another mixing bowl, cream together ½ cup softened unsalted butter, ½ cup brown sugar, and ¼ cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
