These Cranberry Orange Scones are a delightful combination of tart cranberries and zesty orange, perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea.
Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
1/2 cup dried cranberries
Zest of 1 orange
2/3 cup heavy cream
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Additional heavy cream and sugar for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the dried cranberries and orange zest.
- In a separate bowl, combine the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
- Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick and cut into wedges.
- Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with additional cream and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For an extra citrusy flavor, add more orange zest to the dough. These scones are best enjoyed fresh on the day they’re made.
